Multiclassing

Multiclassing

I'm adding a new feature to the editor: the ability to attach multiple stat groups of the same type (species, classes, templates, and backgrounds) to a monster, each with its own range of levels or Challenge Ratings (CR) where it applies.

What does this mean? Multiclassing! ..or applying multiple templates at the same time. Need a Vampire Fire goblin Lycanthrope? No problem. Want a Barbarian 3 / Wizard 1 mummy? You can do that too!

Multiclassing allows you to apply multiple objects (stat groups) and choose in which CR ranges apply them

Simpler NPC designs for better combinations

Because of this, I think the new 5.5e version of NPC classes, species, and backgrounds I'm building will be much simpler, with fewer actions and traits. This makes them easier to combine without turning stat blocks into a mess. Some classes can also split a few themed abilities into small archetypes that keep things cleaner, like a Rogue archetype focused on stealth and infiltration, and another one focused on combat maneuvers.

I firmly believe that, as long as the abilities are enough to make an NPC efficient and versatile in and out of combat, everything else can be either removed or detached into its own themed variant/archetype.

PS: you can test this feature right now in the Editor section, but it won't work for the stats I haven't updated yet, as it requires a new data structure that we'll add gradually as we update more parts of the editor.
